Santa-Clara Rural Reactivation

Collaborated with Holis Summer School

In partnership with CLARA Centre for Rural Future, we spent one week on site to work on a new service to connect urban children with rural villagers in a small village called Santa Clara in Odemira, Southern Portugal.

PROBLEMS

  • A shrinking and aging population, often in poverty

  • Loss of traditional craft and farming skills

  • Environmental degradation due to modern farming

GOALS

  • Integration of the local community of the Odemira region, embracing their skills, perspectives, and traditions

  • Attracting new visitors to the region to stimulate new sustainable economic opportunities

VALUE PROPOSITION

For urban eco-conscious families, CLARA rural camp is an educational and sustainable centre that connects children to nature and preserves traditional knowledge.
